Columbia Road Flower Market
a real treat for any visitor to London on a sunday
Every Sunday morning the market opens at about 8 am and fills the area with vibrant colours and the delightful fragrance of fresh and dried flowers. In addition to the market stalls there are many charming independent shops offering the best of local and artisan goods. You will find street musicians, local cafés, and some great characters and scenes to photograph. This is organised chaos and is perfect for interesting street photography. Travel light, leave your tripod at home, be prepared to have a chat and don't forget to smile.
By mid afternoon the market will be packing up and you will find very different photographic opportunities (including everything that the market and visitors have left behind).
This location is a real gem and starts Sunday off with colour and joy!
It's also very close to Brick Lane (which also has a Sunday Market) so why not string the two locations together for a great Sunday's photography?
I have included a few images from the Columbia Road Flower Market below to give you idea of what to expect.
If you like the look of the location and fancy some photography in the East End then get in touch to arrange a tailored street photography guide or a custom workshop for you (and your friends).
NOTE: The market is only open on Sunday 8am - 3pm and is at it's best in the morning!
