King's cross
railway station, neighborhood
and the regent's canal
The King's Cross neighbourhood has changed beyond recognition since I first visited the area in the 1980's. Then it was one of the shadier areas of London where you may not wish to visit after dark. But times change and development happens. These days the King's Cross area has had great investment and it's now an up market location for business, entertainment and residential use. It's appeal for photography has also changed but it's still a great location for street photography.
The station offers great opportunities for the subtle photographer. Leave your tripod behind, keep on the move and don't make a nuisance of yourself. If asked by station staff be happy to move on as it's not a publlic space where you have a right to photograph, but usually you will be fine. Behind the station is another area of opportunity as you move towards the Regent's Canal; and when you arrive at the canal you can decide to move East towards Angle or West towards Camden. Both make an interesting photo walk.
King's Cross is at the North of the Central London area and is one of London's major transport hubs. Trains, tubes, buses, taxis or your own two feet will all get you there quickly.
I have included a few images to give you idea of what to expect.
